Wellness is the central trend for the coming decades

Hi, two years ago I was a fat, stressed out IT professional working a fast paced and stressful one-man business driving all over the country with a young family to support and no job security. I felt vulnerable and the future looked like a slippery downwards slope into another job working for someone else.

I had no desire to employ other people (I'd already had a bad experience of being an employee) so I was very wary of starting another business with all the associated risks, uncertainty and expense.

At 34 years old we had reached a position of apparent wealth but with no time freedom and no social life. My wife Karen was stuck at home in Sheffield struggling to keep things together almost as a single mum.

 

Then I met a friend, Joy, while assisting on a stress management course and she introduced me to her partner, John, who runs his business very successfully working from home despite being blind.

Eventually, we understood enough about the business opportunity to begin our part time business on the 26th of January 2002. Using any spare time we had working around our jobs and 3 lively children (Amber 9, Sam 6 and Grace 4), we were determined to transform our working lives! We now get to work from home, on our terms, and the stressful pace of a wasteful life has been replaced by a whole new, exciting and rewarding home based business that is changing lives every day!

We were both piling on the pounds due to poor eating habits and to many bacon sandwiches on Peters part. After being introduced to Herbalife we decided to try the products first so purchased an IBP, because we were told to!

Peter lost 22lbs in weight, 4 inches off his waist in 6 weeks gaining 2 hours extra a day because of his increased levels of energy! Alison had a very similar result dropping a dress size and losing 18 lbs in the same period.

We were convinced about the products so decided to attend a training day after much persuasion by Jeff Williams in order to meet the “People” travelling over 100miles each way. After meeting Jeff, David, Jane and many others we made the decision to get started.

We made Supervisor in our first month (making a clear £975 profit in our first 30 days), qualified for the 1999 Extravaganza, made World Team in 4 months and GET Team in just over 3yrs making some great friends along the way.

We are more excited now by Herbalife and what it can offer you than when we first started. Being honest it has not been all plain sailing but we have stuck rigidly to the words of Winston Churchill when he said:

Eleven years ago, on the surface, we were happy and successful. Barry was a senior IT manager for a large American bank, and I was an IT Business Analyst for another bank. We had a lovely house in a private road and a brand-new BMW on the driveway. But the reality was long hours, major stress, commuting nightmares, and battles to get time off together. We were busy planning our wedding, dreaming of the future we would have, the things we would do together.

Then 6 months before our wedding, I was rushed into hospital with a severe asthma attack & Barry was warned that I might not recover. This was our wake-up call. We had stop talking about the lifestyle we wanted and start doing something about it.

We looked into many possibilities, shops, post offices, buying an existing business and franchising, but not one offered quality of life – there were safety issues, even greater time constraints, and most required a large investment for minimum-wage income.

Five years ago, I came across a small lineage ad for a “Work From Home” opportunity, took a look at the web site, and was inspired by a photo of a woman at the controls of a Lear jet as that was exactly what I was looking for, control of our lives.

Someone called about my enquiry, and I couldn't help but be impressed by how happy he sounded. He told me how he worked from home, around his family, and still achieved a great income. It all sounded a little too good to be true, but that wasn't going to stop me finding out for myself, so I went along to a local meeting the next weekend to talk to others too.

I was bowled over by the results, both for the income people were earning and the results people were getting using the products. The severity of my asthma had stopped me being able to exercise so I had gained weight, and my health had steadily deteriorated. All of my family were either on diets, had just quit diets, were talking about starting diets, so if the products worked half as well as they said, as a Business Analyst, I knew there was an opportunity here.

Barry was not so optimistic, and had refused to come to the meeting with me. So, I started on my own, working closely with Jeff & Debbie Williams, who introduced me to the business. I knew absolutely nothing, so I just followed their advice, including getting onto the products myself.

I would never have believed the results good nutrition could offer. I lost 2 stone and dropped 2 dress sizes, and felt better than ever before. It was my health result that got Barry's attention. He tried the products for himself, and although has never needed to lose weight, found that, at 40, he felt much better than he had for years.

Our first 10 customers came to us! They saw the results we got and wanted to know what we were taking!

All we have done since then is to offer others the chance to achieve the results they want, whether that's to earn an income on their own terms, control their weight or improve their general health through the power of nutrition.

In return, we now work from home, together. We work the hours we choose, and live wherever we want! We achieved the Millionaire Team in 2 ½ years, and have travelled all over Europe, to LA and the Bahamas, and have been to loads of parties, themed, black-tie, on the beach, in a cathedral, 5-star hotels, and even a party for 17,000 people in a warehouse in Germany!

Unlike IT, where, if we did our jobs successfully, often others lost theirs, we now feel proud of how we take care of our own future by helping others to improve theirs.
