Q. I drink water throughout my gym sessions, isn’t water enough? Why should I use an isotonic drink – I’m not an athlete?!

A. Isotonic drinks contain carbohydrates to help you to stay energised whilst also helping to keep you hydrated by replacing fluid and precious electrolytes (salts) which are lost through sweat; helping you to avoid the negative effects of dehydration during and after exercise. Even moderate intensity exercise will create sweat resulting in a loss of electrolytes and energy. An isotonic drink has a similar carbohydrate and electrolyte concentration to your body, meaning that your body will absorb them faster than water alone.

Q. What are the benefits of an isotonic drink in comparison to hypotonic or hypertonic sports drinks?

A. A key difference between these types of drinks is the osmolality level which is the level at which a fluid
is absorbed. An osmolality level of 270-330 Mosm/kg in an isotonic drink helps to maintain the required
concentration of electrolytes (salts) in your blood. Water alone has a very low osmolality level as it typically
does not contain electrolytes. Isotonic sports drinks replace fluids and electrolytes whilst providing energy from
carbohydrates - ideal for endurance sports, cardiovascular workouts and team sports. Hypotonic sports drinks
quickly replace fluids lost from sweating but have a low level of carbohydrates which some athletes such as
gymnasts may prefer. Hypertonic sports drinks are very high in carbohydrates and are normally taken after
exercise to top up muscle glycogen stores e.g. after ultra distance running events.

Q. Is it OK to use H3O Pro™ alongside other Herbalife® products?

A. Q. When is the best time to drink H3O Pro™?

A. Before or during exercise. It is recommended to drink one serving for every hour of strenuous physical activity.

 

 

Usage Information

The best time to enjoy Herbalife H3O Pro™ Isotonic Drink is during your workout to keep you hydrated whilst providing a supply of energy, electrolytes and antioxidants to help power an exceptional performance. However H3O Pro™ can also help you stay hydrated and energised before your workout. Pour contents of one sachet into a water bottle and add water to produce 500ml of H3O Pro™; one serving of H3O Pro™ in 500ml is recommended for every hour of strenuous exercise.
